Vision Boards

If you’re anything like me, the New Year brings motivation and goal setting… with a dash of panic. A few days into the New Year and I’m already struggling to consistently wake up at my new set time, how the heck am I going to achieve everything else?

I have the answer for you!

Make a Vision Board

“Vision Board” is a popular term that is thrown out in the media every New Year but as an Interior Designer, I use them ALL the time. Vision Boards or Mood Boards are helpful tools that I utilize the entire year from full house remodels to restyling an existing entry table. A vision board acts like it sounds… as your vision! A vision board is one of the best tools to help you achieve your home goals and manifest your dream space, big or small.

GET INSPIRED:

When planning out how you want a space to look in your home, it’s important to understand your personal style and get inspired. You can use online resources like Pinterest, Instagram, Tik Tok, Blogs or even Google Image Search. Purchase some magazines, books or really anything that gets those creative juices flowing! Don’t ignore your closet, your personal fashion choices also influence the materials and textures you like in your home space.

CREATE YOUR MOOD BOARD:

Create your vision board digitally using places like Pinterest, Canva or Procreate, Even your Notes App can be made into a vision board. Or get creative and print out your photos, rip up some magazines and attach them to a poster board or cork board. Make a whole project out of it and enjoy the time playing with your ideas.

NOW WHAT?

Your vision board will act as a constant reminder of your goal and keep you on track towards that dream space. It is easy, when desiging a space, to get caught up in trends or what others think. Having a vision board to refer back to YOUR VISION will keep you heading in the right direction.

Vision boards are also great for setting a plan in motion. Do you want a dream patio space? Well, when would you like it to happen by? What resources (time, money, skills) do you have available to make it happen? These are all great questions to ask yourself when jumping into a design project. From there it is easier to set smaller, more attainable goals to get you to your vision.

Here are some vision boards that I have going for client and personal projects.

As Always,

TayJo
